Caustic Soda at Bodyworlds

Recorded on-location at the Telus World of Science Bodyworlds exhibit, Caustic Soda takes a look at the fascinating, gruesome world of the human body. A big thanks to Pam Saunders for not only organizing our visit but leading us through and answering all our dumbass questions!

  1. A mixure of acetone and other chemicals was used in Roger Rabbit to kill cartoon characters and was used to eventually kill the villain of the movie, Judge Doom! Since Judge Doom was a murderous cartoon and possessed all the special abilities of a cartoon character, I think it is fair to say acetone has been used in cinema to kill a “super villain”.

  2. On a related note, there is a very large Bodyworks product placement in the Daniel Craig Bond film Casino Royale. Bond follows a suspect (to Miami I believe) and trails him into a museum featuring the Bodyworks exhibit.

  4. Man, your guide was not having ANY of Kevin’s wisecracks! I guess when you work in PR, you’re not really supposed to make fun of what you are supposed to be publicizing.

    Anyway, very educational and interesting!

  5. I’m about halfway through and really enjoying this show. The woman from Science World is very informed, and a lot less jokey than you guys are used to. It’s almost like you’re doing a science podcast. Luckily Kevin is there to represent!*

    * For wise-cracking laymen everywhere…
